I took some pictures today of my daffodil blooms. The chipmunks are eating every bulb I have planted. I do not think I will get any tulips. Oh well... Sarai the moon face is for you. I know it freaks you out.

Will spring ever truly be here?

Essay on Silence by Fra Elbertus
I found this book years ago in a little shop. I think it was around 1975. I always have loved it for the humor and volumes it speaks by not saying anything at all. I put it away because I had it out as a little conversation piece and Roger (through the years) kept accidently putting his glass on it like a coaster. I finally put it away and found it again during the move.
I had often wondered about the inscription and the writing on the back and what the connection was. Days before internet and all. I looked it up today online and found that Fra Elbertus was a pen name for Elbert Hubbard who was a soap salesman, author and philosopher. I will try to add some links to his information. I am not good at that yet. He published several essays and states that this is his best work. Walt Mason was a poet and wrote for newspapers. Don't know much yet but it is interesting. I wish I had kept it in better shape.
I'm Melting
I'm Melting!!!!
"My eye fell out, making baby blue and my heart is in my hands." I thought this was interesting looking as snow mama started melting, her heart pin shifted and looked like she was holding it.

D and M's Valentine Cafe
Overnight sleet and snow
We had quite a bit of sleet and snow last night. It started out with a layer of sleet an inch or so thick. I had crashed still feeling bad and Roger went out to look at what the noise he heard was and pouring out from the corner of the gutter onto the front porch was sleet pouring just like sugar he said.
He tried to get some shots from through the glass but finally had to open the door. Then he put a hammer in to show how big that one pile of sleet was getting. After the sleet it turned to snow. I woke up at 3:45am and looked out the front door and realized we couldn't open the door. I thought the snow had drifted but then he showed me the pictures and told me the story.
He is outside now shoveling away in order to get my newspaper. It was buried under the snow. Had a little lull but it is snowing again and it may snow until 4:00 or so this afternoon. He just knocked on the garage/laundry room door. I must have inadvertently locked him out.
Baxter was with him and I tried to get him through the glass. He ran away and then would not come in even through the garage door. Can you say WUUUSSSS?

more snow and flu

Beautiful day!!
Today was gorgeous! I got out into the yard and put up a new bird feeder, scooped, and looked for signs of spring and they were everywhere. I even saw my first Robin today! Yeah.
I also repotted a plant that my grandmother had given me. It was outgrowing the container and the container was breaking apart when you would just touch it. I hated to do it because it made me a little sad to take apart what she had done with her own hands. It will be a year in June that she died and I can't seem to get her off my mind. I keep dreaming about her and finding and looking at pictures of us over the years. I am very lucky to have had a grandmother alive until I was 50. Grandma I hope your hand was with mine when I planted today.
Roger and I went looking for a new umbrella for the deck this week. We got a good deal on one. It is very neutral but blends with everything. We most likely jumped the gun on the season but we could not wait! Now for sure it will snow bucket loads. He also got me the best wind chimes for valentines day and I was wanting to hang it up. It is tuned and sounds like cathedral chimes. They are about four feet long. The wind was just right today to be able to hear them periodically. We are going to hang them eventually just right underneath the gutter so they will catch the wind even more and be a little protected form the elements. He was thinking it might help drown out the traffic noise.
I keep trying to get a picture of Baxter but he is never having it. He is scared of the flash. He has the cutest face and I never can catch him.
Check out the new roof in the shot of the umbrella. We liked the multi-color one we had before better, but the quality was not as good. These should last a little longer than the others did. The color is teak.
I think Vince is on the mend, but Susan is still sick. So far no one else here has gotten the flu but season still strong. Mom called and Dad had to go to First Choice Clinic because his hearing aid battery came out and went down into his ear canal. He wasn't very happy about going. He kept telling Mom he could get it if he just had a magnet that would fit down in his ear. Mom kept urging him to go. Took about a minute for them to get it out.
Got a new old CD today. I had the album but had forgotten how good it was. Janis Joplin in concert. Summertime baby!
