Robins on the tree

Thought all the robins were south until spring but maybe they were confused. We had a tree full of them this morning. Looks as though it may be the weekend before we thaw. We are soooo lucky we have electricity.

Mom and Dad have been over here since Tuesday because of the power outages. We went over today to empty the fridge, get medicines and check on things. Mom is making a sad face because of her power.

Slumdog Millionaire

We went to see the movie Slumdog Millionaire yesterday. It was very good. Yes some disturbing parts but overall very well done and thought provoking. Today has been very relaxing. The freezing rain is still coming down though and not sure what is yet to come. I hope the trees and power holds. Not too many big trees around where we live (newer neighborhood) and our lines are underground but the main power lines have large trees and you never know what will happen. Roger is our now trying to attack the driveway. I may sneak a picture.

Why are plans so confusing? Seems like a deal from a carrier would be a deal. Noooo you have to shop around. We have never even had a camera on our cells and are thinking about a blackberry because so many of our family members have them. What to do?

Welcome to the land of the ice and snow

I took a few pictures this morning of our ice. We were supposed to get some snow but are right on the cusp of the fluffy white stuff. We should get some more today and tonight.

Lazy weekend

These pics are from last weekend when Gabe and Melody came up after their proposal. Pardon the open laundry room door and the grainy shots. The battery was going out again in my camera. We were at Mom's right before and she was a little tickled about something. We'll see if she tells me to take the pics off.






We really did not do too much this weekend. I worked late on Friday, slept late on Saturday, went in for a couple of hours to do some more work and then home. Roger's sisters Debbie and Michelle came to spend the night so we visited and I cooked. I really have been wanting to go see Slumdog Millionaire but haven't had any luck getting anyone to go with me. Maybe I can work it in one night this week after school. I think it will be a good one to see. Benjamin Button getting lots of Oscar flurry but personally I did not like it all that much. It had it's moments but was entirely too long and then the ending seeming contrite and rushed. I may have even commented on it before, but not really my kind of movie.

Roger in Texas

Not sure what came first. The driving around sight seein' or the consumin' of the advertised worst BBQ in Texas. I have to hear the story on just how that advertising came about. One shot is of Hill Country and I am not sure what the big white building is. Maybe the golf course clubhouse. I know they played nine holes one day and another nine the next day. I am so glad they are getting to spend some time together. They are off tonight to see a movie.

Roger at Darril's playing wii until 2 in the morning. I'll bet his arms are sore with all of that action! Have fun guys.

Snow

I tried to capture a little of the pretty snowfall last night and was not able to quite get the speed and the light right. I love watching the snow fall. This morning though it was all sunshine and light so was not long until it melted away.

Gabe got engaged today! Gabe, Melody and Abbi Grace went to make pottery today and Gabe proposed by painting this message on the plate. She had to close her eyes and then when she opened them he was on his knees and showing her the plate he painted. They are on their way home tonight so we are all up waiting for them to get here. Yeah! Welcome to the family Melody and Abbi Grace. We are so happy for you all. Plus we are very excited that we are going to be grandparents!!!
