New wheels

Borrowed this quote from another blogsite and liked it. I had read some things by Buscaglia in the early eighties. Need to dig it out again.

"The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It's overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt."

Leo Buscaglia

We (Susan and I) spent the last two days dealing with used car salesmen. We were like the tag team of good cop bad cop. I might add that I was the good one!

I should have read this quote before I dealt with all of this and maybe I would have even been able to make a better deal with half of the hassle. Hard to love and think of others when you are dealin' for wheels man.

Crazy as it seems I traded my sporty edition red (maroon) camry for a van. I had a Sienna van several years ago for quite some time and have not been happy without it. I know gas prices are horrible but the van is so versitile for us. We wind up driving 2 cars for us to all fit just to go out to dinner and the van is so much easier for my mom to get in and out of when I take her places. Since I switched jobs I am driving soooo much less and have gone from a tank of gas every 5 days or so to a tank of gas every 3 to 4 weeks. This did help me to justify it a bit. I will post some pics later. Everybody thinks I am insane to be so happy to be the proud owner of another Sienna. But the seat and driving height is just better for taller people.

  1. Hi Tishy I found your site through Barbara Harmor's kindergarten site. I teach kindergarten too. Leo Buscaglia spoke at my college graduation (University of WI in Green Bay) in 1977. What a great quote for us all to keep in mind...and very much like a kindergarten teacher.
