Back From Texas (Don't mess with Texas now.. Ya'll hear?)

Wow.... what a crazy last two days. Hurricane hits and al,so what do you know? We get some well deserved rain in SA. Then it's off to the airport early (12:45 or so)to make sure I am there and ready for a 2:59 flight. Severe weather sirens are going off and plane is delayed...delayed and delayed again. Then we get to board at 5:00. I am thinking okay, I can still make my connection in Houston at 6:55 to arrive in Lexington at 10:15. WRONG> We load and taxi out to runway only to be tarmacked (sp?) for 2 more hours. Well at this point I realize I will not be making my connection flight and it is the last one out of there to Lexington. Looks like I will be spending the night in the Houston airport if I can't get a flight in to Louisville or Cinncinnati from Houston.

I am even at this point thinking, well, I can get a flight into Nashville and stay at my oldest son's house a night because he is coming home to visit this weekend anyway. Hitchin' a ride... Oh hitchin' a ride.

I really want to be home before the 25th because it is baby son's 22nd birthday. Oops, a bit sidetracked. We finally decide to come back to the gate. We get unboarded and then they get the all clear call. At that point I am on the phone with my sister in law asking her to come back to the airport to pick me up so we can start all over again the next day. Oh yeah, my luggage was still on it's way to Houston without me and I did not have a clean change of clothes in my carry on. Yes, I usually do, but never have needed one before so I opted not to this time. So I rebook my flight and go back to movie watching with the girlies for another night. MUCH,MUCH, MUCH better than spending the night at Houston airport. Glad the pilot decided to do this so I had the "do over" option.

Got up this morning and went in early to airport (5:00am) so I could possibly get an even earlier flight than I had scheduled because there was talk of more delays later in the day. Managed to get a 6:40 flight instead of a 7:25 flight and Houston I was finally on my way. The 7:25 flight was delayed a couple of times so I am glad I made that decision. Hopped a plane for Lexington at 10:19 and arrived by 1:30 or so. Miracles do happen folks. My luggage was indeed in Lexington when I got there today, so I assume it waited in Houston and was put on my plane correctly. My faith was a little restored in air travel as I did walk out with my baggage in hand. Oh yeah, we even had sandwiches, carrots, M&M's and a drink on the flight. Something new for me as of the last few years. Lucky these days to get a drink, much yet a sandwich. Thought it was a celebration for something, but no one shared if it was.

Then it was home to get ready to eat for Trav's birthday. We just did taco's, fajitas, homemade salsa and chips and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

I have said my goodnight's and I am off to bed to hopefully sleep until noon.

I had such a wonderful time though. A week of just girlies is a week of good memories. I will post some pics of Ryan's room we decorated tomorrow.

New Plants/Pets in Texas

Wanted to post a few pics from D and M's house. Time is going by quickly. Everything is well and girlies are busy. We have cooked, eaten, talked, fed dogs and kittens, cooked, talked, eaten, talked, watched movies, eaten, talked (did I say that already?)and done lots of laundry and dishes in between. Just finished up watching PS I Love You..... Sob Sob...

Off to San An"tone"

I am leaving this morning to visit in San Antonio. Feuling up on coffee to brave the day. I did not sleep much last night. Maybe an hour or so. I am such a procrastinator and was up packing until at least 1:00 am. Then I did not fall asleep until after two. Up once in between. Alarm at 3:45 not pretty. Slurping the joe as I type. It will be great to get there! Wish me well and that I don't fall asleep between connections and miss the whole thing. That my friends.... would be like me. Leaving Roger and the crew a bunch of work to do. The green beans are ready and tomatoes are beginning to turn. Cucumbers are producing like crazy! I won't know what to do without my daily homegrown cucumber or two. My heart will grow fonder I imagine.

Natural Bridge

We had a great time at Natural Bridge. It was hot and steamy and we made it to the top of the bridge just in time before the thunder and lightening started. Just as we got back down to the lodge it started raining. Not sure how the nieces felt about all the hiking and the humidity. When they first got to Kentucky they thought it was cold. Then the humidity hit. Today during the hike they said "It is hot in Kentucky"! They did not remember the "moisture" that comes along with a 90 degree humid Kentucky day especially since the first of their visit was in the 70's and no humidity.

Ducks at the pond

Ryan and I walked over to the pond across the way and fed the ducks. We had a great time and she was so excited to get to see all/several stages of duck development. I took a few pics and then ran out of memory on my card. Need to purge. We then took the dogs to the park. I forgot my camera for that one. We picked clovers and made clover chains.

Fourth of July at Tina's

We went to a cookout at Tina's. Firework's were good but again my camera was acting up. I got a couple of shots but they look like they were only white and they were lots of colors. Rained only a little.

banana tree and flower update

Here is a new shot of the banana tree. It is finally growing. THe other flowers are doing pretty well too. The picture of Jazzy was cute because she was guarding Ryan's Bear.

Raven Run Hike

Today Roger, Darril, the girlies and I went to Raven Run. We did a quick hike since they close early now because of budget cuts. Here are some pictures. Roger was blazin' the trail and Darril was in the rear saying "It's 4:08"!

The Bookelope

Check out the new link I added for an online bookstore that is run by my sister-in- law and her mother. Darril and the girls are in from Texas and we have some fun things planned. Hopefully the weather cooperates. They could not believe how cool the weather was today. It was beautiful with a nice unseasonable breeze. We are trying to get to Mammoth Cave and to Natural Bridge. It is so good to have them here. I will be taking lots of pictures. Darril and Roger played Corn Hole quite a bit and R has found his match. Darril is quite the natural at tossing the corn bag. Must have somehting to do with the softball background.
